This is the second time that I have written this post. My poor laptop (was nearly launched across the room) just can’t cope anymore. During lockdown it has had an utter battering, working way harder than I ever have! Every day asked to edit some video or other, and perform ridiculous tasks rather than just download lots of “educational” videos (i promise they are)!
Now the first time around, this was way funnier, but…you will just have to trust me.

Anyway, it’s so f**king cool that we are able to train outside again now! And even better as 3 MASSIVE (I hope, they are still in the boxes) gazeboes have rocked up. Meaning that you guys will be able to throwdown in the pissing rain, safe in the knowledge that your assault bike seat will be dry when you get back for round 2!

Happy Monday Team…BUDDY WEEK!!!

All week, you’re buddies will be wandering around the gym looking like a rabbit in the head lights! Scared, nervous and seriously confused due to the fact that people are actually talking to them while they are in a gym! 😕 Not only, but the sweaty, half naked hugs will freak them right out. DO IT ALL!

Support and care about them all like nothing else in the world matters, we are fiercely loyal and wonderfully welcoming.

Especially tomorrow evening as not only do we have a wonderful workout planned for you, but there will be will be a film crew present in the evening (between 17:00 - 18:00 approx) to film have of the 16:30 and 17:30 classes. Did you go bonkers? Utterly mental fast? Please tell me you did, as I have done that workout twice now. The first time caused me to have to hang my head out of a Swiss hotel room window for about 30 minutes while I sorted myself out. The second time, I spent about the same amount of time attempting not to be sick on my back garden.

I sincerely hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did.

- it is currently 5am on Thursday, a day before the announcement and…
- I wasn’t there anyway!

But, with Colonel Conroy at the helm, how can you possibly have anything but some seriously fun, organised, fitness?!
Please, judges, just make sure you hold on to your clip boards when calling no reps. You’re athlete doesn't need to know what it tastes like. 😉

Welcome to a new week all! I hope you all had a fun filled weekend, jam packed with frolicking and banter and Tom Foolery and NO booze! 

Now, make sure you do actually READ BELOW because, if you turn up to the 4:30pm class at 5pm tomorrow afternoon, with those cute little puppy dog eyes, you will be forced to make a decision: click you heels upstairs for 30mins, in our beautifully constructed lounge area, with coffee and reading material available…or…
Get an assault bike and achieve as many calories as possible within 1min, if the final number is below 50, then perform the remaining reps of heavy Wall Balls…before…going upstair and clicking your heels upstairs for 28mins, in our beautifully constructed lounge area, with available coffee and reading material. 😁

Nancy was more than just 'naughty'...she was a total bitch! There are no surprises there though hey! Just to throw a mere bit of perspective your way, below are the top male and female times of those utter nut cases from this event during the 2013 CrossFit Games:

Now, I have some important info about the coming month, previously posted yet now added to...

Throughout the recent Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns, the UK lost a huge amount of servicemen and women, unfortunately, many of whom went seamlessly unnoticed. The media reported on the goings on, yet so many of these lives were forgotten about almost immediately. 
Until you are in that world, it is very difficult to attempt to understand how it feels. These selfless heroes laying down their lives, fighting not to defend their country from bombing raids or invasions, but for each other. 
When searching for the definition of Camaraderie I found this..."mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together." In no way does that come close to describing the bond formed between soldiers. A Google for Military Camaraderie arrives far closer to the mark with... "There is nothing in the civilian workforce that can approximate the bonding that occurs in wartime. ... It follows therefore that finding the military version of camaraderie in a civilian occupation is almost impossible."... Quite possibly then, no words will suffice? Surely though, when confronted with such extreme environments, to protect one another is merely human nature? Like a mother or father protecting their children?

I may have fallen well short of the mark, attempting to describe this to you all, but what I do know is that I witness a part of it everyday. The support offered to each other throughout a tough workout, the shared suffering, binds people together like no amounts of bicep curls or calf raises every would. Did you ever wonder why you find so many friends at the gym?

I want to give back. On the 29th of September, at 11:00 the Trainers will begin a 24 hour event. In pairs, we will complete 633 Clean and Jerks, loading to be dictated by an average body weight per pair. One rep for each life. We have 24 hours to finish. 
Even though the full 24 hours is reserved for the team, on the day there will be various different ways in which you will all be able to take part. 

The Royal Marines pride themselves on peak physical performance and unbreakable mental resilience. Commando Training is almost entirely centred around a final hurdle; The Commando Tests. Four extremely difficult feats which not only test the fitness of the recruit, but also simply his ability to endure pain. Developed from the start, the Commando qualities are fully engrained into most by this stage and are exactly what, allows these young men to succeed: 

Courage, Determination, Unselfishness and Cheerfulness in the face of Adversity

Yet, these tests attempted separately, without the cumulative affect of the 30 week Commando Course are entirely doable. The 633 Event is no different. However, it too is placed at the end of a significant challenge. 

Each workout posted in the month of September, programmed for Monday - Saturday, will be a hero WoD. Most of these will be named after fallen Royal Marines, yet others from different services will be posted, each for good reason.
These workout will be hard, every single one of them. They will make you sore and challenge your body. Be careful and don't you be a hero. If you need to rest, do so. If you feel any kind of niggle then back off, listen to the team and scale when told to do so.
You will not necessarily get fitter during this month, and that is not our intention. You may have to perform the same movement two days in a row. You may work for long periods of time and feel significant discomfort as a result. Do NOT add additional workouts, train twice a day and be sure to rest when needed. 

We have the month of September to raise as much money as possible. Destined for the Royal Marines Charity, they will be sending the funds to Reorg. A Foundation who's mission is to help any Royal Marine, serving or veteran, suffering with the after effects caused by these brutal campaigns.

That used to happen to Hugh Hefner. It's weird, every time he was around a group of females, all of his clothes just would not stay on his body! It must have been a nightmare; courgettes everywhere!! Rumour has it, that last night there was a ginger ninja, roaming the streets of Cathays, necking cider and taking numbers! And who could blame him!!?? He's worked hard all week, learning vital nuggets of information such as, whether carrots can be frozen or not. All made possible by google!   
The only issue is that this sort of behaviour creates unique and wonderful opportunities for me, an outsider with access to a powerful resource (the internet), not used to research which types of vegetables can or cannot be frozen, but to publicly banter him into the ground. All made possible by well placed and very secret moles.

Hopefully my rambling has excited you enough to distract you from whats coming your way...I am truly sorry...

Two days into Hashtag HanFit and my legs are killing me! NOT looking forward to crawling out of bed on Saturday morning! 
I am however, not in as much pain as young Ash. He looked in such disarray during todays workout that I was forced to selflessly attempt to inject him with some morale. On the return of the 600m run, I with no concern for my own personal safety,  "tripped" and , threw myself to the floor.
Although I sustained minor and utterly intentional injuries, the fall, even if it looked quite spectacular was pure drama. It didn't hurt one bit. Commando rolling back to my feet I was back in the game, and as per design now behind the young pad wan; the pain coursing through his body now a thing of the past.
